The Season of Inbetween

So, Halloween is over, even if the tasty, tempting minisize candy bars are still around.  We still have some leaves on our Maple tree and Oak too, usually all gone by Halloween.  With the bright sunshine today, everything is beautiful and the mountains are etched in perfect detail in the blue blue sky.  But yesterday in Leavenworth (www.Leavenworth.com)  we noticed a flurry of activity getting ready for Christmas.  OK, well it is a BIG thing there and they might even be getting snow soon, and they have all their Christmas fesitval events to think of.   I can understand getting organized for Christmas decorating………..but I am in no way ready to say good-bye to the Glory of Fall.  Now I want to buy several big pumpkins to display on our porch (maybe these won’t get snatched by goblins) and enjoy the last of the leaves falling like golden snow and the crunch of the leaves gone toasty and brown.  I love to watch our dog Gracie chase the leaves and search all through them for a prize left by busy squirrels.  Inside I have small pots of chrysanthemums in yellow and gold and coppery brown, candles named “autumn wreath” and “cinnamon spice”. AND thanks to our innkeeper friends Denny and Georgeanne (www.boschgarten.com) there will soon be lots of fresh applesauce bubbling away on the stove and filling our B&B with another easily recognized Fall scent……….  Even the fresh ripe Golden Delicious in the box smell wonderful!  While Christmas is a whole season and gets lots of attention and preparation, sometimes it’s easy to just stuff Thanksgiving inbetween Halloween and Christmas and let that holiday be just one day, turkey day.  Not for me this year!  I am purposing to enjoy every day of this Season of Giving Thanks, the beauty of all outdoors, the fun of chatting with neighbors outside corraling piles of leaves with me……….but most of all for the countless blessings in my life!  And one of those is indeed being innkeepers with my best friend and hubby Craig (www.gaylordhouse.com)   Come stay with us during this Season of Giving Thanks and enjoy the smells and tastes of Harvest Season, relax and enjoy some time for you to breathe in the joy of just being alive………….before you give yourself over to the hurry scurry bustling busy of the beautiful Christmas Season.
